CHILD PSYCHIATRIC RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM
JUST FOR KIDS

SpringBrook children are between the ages of five and twelve.  They require a structured therapeutic environment in which to safely deal with severe and persistent emotional problems.  Children are separated into their own living environment and attend their own special SpringBrook School.  The SpringBrook Children's Program is lead by a highly experienced clinical/educational team including a child psychaiatrist, lead clinical therapist, and special education teachers.  Staff are carefully screened, receive extensive on the job training and continually meet the SpringBrook rigorous criteria of sensitivity to children and ability to work with those with significant behavioral problems.

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

For some kids childhood means coping with upheaval in the family, failure at school, and rejection by peers.  Early intensive intervention can mean the difference between long lasting emotional conflict and the ability to overcome adversity and live a productive life.

The Children's Program offers compassionate care in a safe, nurturing environment.  Every minute of every day is a therapeutic opportunity.  Whether in the classroom setting, taking part in a game in our full equipped gymnasium or swimming pool, or outdoors on our extensive grounds children learn the lessons of right and wrong, give and take, win and lose.

Using educational, behavioral, medical and psychotherapeutic prescriptions tailored to each child, the staff always look for ways to help the child succeed.  Building on the positive and assisting with the age appropriate problem solving approaches, children learn to develop healthy ways of coping with life's challenges.

SUPPORTING THE GAINS MADE AT SPRINGBROOK

The lessons learned at SpringBrook provide a solid basis for continued growth and success.  It is important, however, to plan the transition from SpringBrook to the child's community living environment.  Aftercare planning begins when the treatment begins.  SpringBrook professionals work with families, the local school, youth serving agencies, and other health and mental health professionals to facilitate a succesful return to the community.
